Piazza della Rotunda: Contour Drawing

This is a drawing I just finished of the Piazza della Rotunda. It's the piazza right in front of the Pantheon, but the Pantheon is not included in the picture (It's behind the viewer). I found it amusing that there was a McDonald's right across the from the Pantheon, and the McDonald's is included in this drawing. You can click on the picture to enlarge it; you'll be able to see it better.

what you guys can't see (because there is no reference of size) is that this is merely the size of a stamp.

yeah, i remember that mcdonald's too. i thought it was pretty funny. somehow they always leave that out of the pics you see. when i went to the pantheon there was a white bird inside it, and the bird was flying around the opening in the middle of the dome. i got a picture of it, and it is one of my favorites because inside of the dome is very dark, and then the light shines in the opening and the white bird is flying through the beam of light. i don't know where that picture is anymore.

anyway, the mcdonald's comment made me think of another story, so i'll share it also. on our honeymoon we first spent several days in a small french town called aix-les-bains. the hotel we stayed in was very nice, but away from the middle of town, so you had to walk pretty far if you wanted to go anywhere at night, because the buses stopped running in the early afternoon. so we had taken a nap and woke up around 7 one evening, and were really craving some american food, but the closest thing they had was mcdonalds. unfortunately it was a few miles away, and we weren't in the mood for walking. so since it was our honeymoon, we went downstairs, called a cab, had him drive us to mcdonald's (which in itself was a little difficult, as he didn't understand what we were calling it - apparently the common name is "mcdoe's" there), and then he waited while we got our food, and then took us back to the hotel. so, anyway, we ended up spending about $10 on food and about $50 on the cab. but it was the best $60 mcdonald's meal i've ever had. and in case you were wondering, that was the only time we ate "american" while we were there.

We also ate "American food" only one time that I can remember. It was on our last night in Rome at that McDonald's across from the Pantheon. So now, I have a tradition of eating McDonald's for my last meal in Rome... if you can call twice a tradition.

helloooo!!!!! pizza in italy is like mcdonald's here! jeff tells me that you're being sarcastic... we are actually arguing about that right now. i was taking your comment seriously- we did have gelato and a few random other meals, but pizza is their main lunch item... so are you being sarcastic? cause i guess i'm being stupid.

wow- i just referred to gelato as a meal... and i guess while we were there we did kind of treat it as such... but we were on vacation, so it doesn't count.
