Amongst Giants

I have finished another painting- I painted this from a photograph I took at the St. Patrick's Day Festival here in Richmond, VA. This group of parents and their kids were waiting in line for one of those huge blow-up slide/castle thingies (which actually deflated while a few of the kids were playing on it). You can purchase this painting HERE for $350. I also have a web page devoted to paintings for sale under $500 and you can get to that page by clicking HERE.

Alice Neel

This painting is called "Nancy and the Rubber Plant," and it is by one of my favorite artists, Alice Neel. Neel didn't seek to actually confront the viewer until later in her life, and as a result was fairly unknown for the first couple of decades of her work. Anyway, I love her portraits (this one in particular) and she is definitely worth "googling."

There was a student that I went to school with at East Carolina whose work reminded me a bit of Alice Neel. Her name is Kymia Nawabi, and one of her paintings is posted below. HERE is a link to view some of her work from her Undergraduate Show. And if any of you out there know what she's up to now, I'd LOVE to see some of her current work!

Wayne County Arts Council

I now have several works (which are shown below) for sale at the Wayne County Arts Council's Art Market. Some people like to see a painting or drawing in person before buying it, so this will make that possible. However, if you live too far from Goldsboro to stop by the Art Market, you can still find all of these works for sale on my website: windylampson.com.

Progress

I've made a little progress on my painting. It's a little frustrating moving at such a slow pace, but I was able to get a couple of hours in tonight. My spring break is next week, and I plan to get a lot done!

New Painting!

I've finally started a new painting! Here is the underpainting (the first stage)- after only a few hours of work. I'll post more progress on this later. (And Sarah- this one is inspired by you and your love for cropping things) :)
